The Circle of Hope has completed its annual project of preparing school kits for Lutheran World Relief to be distributed to students in the United States whose homes were destroyed by natural disasters and to students in other countries where poverty and conflict make it impossible for their parents to purchase school supplies.
Today 79 school kits were blessed at the morning worship service of November 2. The members of the Circle of Home express their gratitude for all those who have aided in this project. Donations of school supplies and cash gifts by congregation members enabled the circle members to prepare this large number of kits. Sewing by the Trinity Stitchers at Trinity Lutheran Church in Juniata resulted in the sturdy, colorful backpacks filled with the school supplies. A cash grant by Thrivent and a donation of fabric by Surplus City Inc. contributed to the success of the project. A special thank you goes out to Larry Bowers and Bill Caputo for their assistance to the circle members.
