Mission Statement

Our Mission

First Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Gospel-centered community of believers, is committed to proclaiming God’s love by following Christ’s example of perfect obedience, service and love, and by helping all people to mature daily in the gift of faith. In other words, be the Light and Blessing of Christ.

We Worship

Holy Eucharist is celebrated on Saturday evenings at 5:30 PM in the Nave, and on Sundays at 9:30 AM in the Nave.

We Learn

Tender Love for Children Childcare and School (TLC) is a safe and secure haven that offers childcare and school programs for little ones aged six weeks through six years. We provide a loving, happy environment in which each child is able to develop his or her intellectual, emotional, social and physical growth. TLC children flourish with our high ratio of staff to child, certified teachers and our supportive efforts on behalf of each and every child in our care. TLC at First Lutheran is open daily from 6:30 AM until 5:30 PM.

Each Saturday morning at 9:00 AM during Lent, members and friends enjoy breakfast, fellowship and Bible Study.

Adult Bible Study offered throughout the year.

We Praise

First Evangelical Lutheran Church has long cherished its sacred music program and has made a significant commitment to its central role in worship. Martin Luther argued that “in the cultivation of music at the highest levels of artistic excellence the perfect wisdom and goodness of God are displayed.”

We lift our souls in praise in:

  • Temple Choir, for Junior High age through adult
  • Handbell Choir
  • Instrumental Ensemble
  • Solo opportunities, especially in summer, when the choir does not perform.

Director of Music, Joni L. Whetstone invites all who are interested to participate in the musical life of First Lutheran.

We Serve

  • Circle of Hope, a church group for women dedicated to helping those in need.
